Buying
How do I use CrashedToys?
Follow these steps to start bidding and buying in CrashedToys online auctions:
- Join CrashedToys
- Submit Business Licenses (if applicable) or Find a Broker (if applicable)
- Search Vehicles
- Add Vehicles to Watchlist
- Join Auctions
- Place Bids
- Pay and Pick Up
Each of these steps is described in our How to Buy section, which will help you get started.
Can I save items I want to view later?
Absolutely. Members who are logged in have the ability to add items to their Watchlist. Your Watchlist can be managed from your Member Dashboard, and you can view the current bid and sale date of the vehicles you choose all in one place. Adding items to your Watchlist is the best way to monitor your favorite lots.
Similarly, we provide a feature online and on CrashedToys Mobile that allows you to save searches. This saves time for those Members who have searches they run repeatedly.
If you’re not a Member, register now at no cost to take advantage of these time-saving tools.
Does CrashedToys have a … [specific vehicle type, make or model]?
This is one of our most popular questions!
The simplest way to find a particular vehicle is to use the Vehicle Finder tool on your Member Dashboard or type a word or phrase into the Search toolbar at the top of any CrashedToys page. Then see what the search results generate for you.
For a more advanced search, use our online Vehicle Finder to find vehicles that fall into one or more of these groups:
- Vehicle Type
- Damage Type
- Title Type
- Featured Items
- Purchase Options
- Specialty
- Current Bid Status
You can also search by year, make, model, location, VIN and lot number.
If you find a search that works for you, save your search so you can run similar search results whenever you return to CrashedToys.
Another way to search vehicles is to download the CSV Sales Data once you are logged in as a member. This spreadsheet allows you to sort vehicle data to determine which vehicle thumbnail images to view, the dates vehicles go to auction and more.
Can I visit a CrashedToys location to preview vehicles?
Yes, and in fact, we encourage you to visit. Although CrashedToys provides 10 high-quality images and accurate descriptions for each vehicle, any information provided is for convenience only. Why not go that extra step for additional peace of mind and visit a CrashedToys location to see the vehicle in person?
CrashedToys Members as well as nonmembers may preview vehicles at no cost Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. – no appointment necessary. Guests of any age are welcome at our locations, but we ask that children under 16 be accompanied by an adult.
If you’re unable to visit us in person, remember that we provide a list of inspection services for you to use. These inspectors are not CrashedToys employees and would be working as third-party professionals on your behalf to help you make informed buying decisions.
Do I need a business license to bid and buy? If so, where can I get it?
Not all CrashedToys inventory requires business licenses. You’ll greatly benefit, however, from having these items on file with CrashedToys:
- Operational licenses (dealer, dismantler, repairable and/or business licenses)
- Sales tax licenses
- Sales tax exemption forms
Want to know what we have on file for you? Go to Account Information to view your licenses.
Business licenses are typically issued through state departments of transportation, motor vehicles, finance or taxation. Every state has its own business licensing requirements, which you can see on the Licensing page. For more detailed, state-specific business licensing guidelines, including links to applications and forms, choose your state from the Licensing Map.
With enough Buying Power, CrashedToys Members without a business license can bid on and purchase No License Required vehicles. However, they still have to pay sales tax where applicable. Sales tax regulation varies among states, and rates vary among locations.
How do I use a Broker?
Brokers are professional buyers who assist businesses and individuals who may not have the licenses to buy the vehicles they want. Brokers often provide bidding and buying advice, repair services, transportation, export shipping and more. Some Brokers even have physical storefronts and are set up with kiosks allowing you to bid and buy right from their office.
The easiest way to use a Broker is to first find the vehicles that you’re interested in buying. Once you attempt to bid on these lots, you will be directed to the list of Brokers who can help you. Not all Brokers can facilitate the purchase of every vehicle. This is why it’s important that you select your desired vehicles before attempting to contact a Broker.
Remember that Brokers are independent of CrashedToys. When you use a Broker, you are buying vehicles through the Broker and not CrashedToys. Members who elect to work with a Broker to bid on vehicles are advised to carefully read and understand the Broker’s terms and conditions, including payment terms and conditions. You should also review the Broker’s qualifications thoroughly to ensure that the Broker meets your vehicle purchasing needs.
What happens if I won a lot and need to cancel it?
If you win a lot and don’t finalize the purchase (meaning, the lot is not paid in full within 8 calendar days including the day of sale) the Lot will Relist. The Relist fee will be 10% of the final sale price OR $600 – whichever is higher.
If you have paid CrashedToys already, contact the Yard directly. Each of the yard locations are individually managed and solely responsible for addressing all lot specific inquires/disputes!
